If you've never heard Impaled, you haven't been missing out on anything original. This band is really good at sounding like Carcass, and it shows. I mean, this album is a little different than their previous efforts (faster, more complex riffing). It's a really catchy record. The Last Gasp indeed.

One of the better stoner doom metal bands out there. San Francisco's Acid King are a three piece musical ensemble blending the styles of Black Sabbath's first three albums with a psychedelic flare. I personally prefer them over a lot of other American bands in the doom genre. III is an incredible record. Sunshine and Sorrow is probably my stand out track.

I don't know much about this band American Football. I think that they only released one album; however, I see them as pioneers of their genre. Taking indie rock/"emo" and contorting it into a very minimalist, yet multi-layered sound. These songs are solid. I bought their cd in the 10th grade, I think...and it stays in constant play rotation. Horn melodies give a few of the songs some spice. Really get into this band.

Everyone has heard these guys. The link is to The Mars Volta's De-Loused in the Comatorium. Psychedelia in Funk fused rock form. De-Loused was their first major label release, and is co-produced with Rick Rubin (Slayer, Neil Diamond, and the man in black).
